BIOGRAPHY

From July 5th to 11th, 2015, the 3rd Vancouver Chinese Film Festival was held in Vancouver, Canada. The Vancouver Chinese Film Festival took the promotion of Chinese films and the dissemination of Chinese culture as its core purpose. Since its establishment in Canada in 2013, it has achieved amazing results and has received strong support from all walks of life.

Liu Fei, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Vancouver, Douglas Horne, Deputy Speaker of the BC Provincial Assembly, Harry Bloy, Minister of State for Multiculturalism of BC, and Michael Francis, Director of the BC Film Bureau and Honorary Chairman of the Vancouver International Film Festival, attended the opening ceremony of the film festival. As well, the organizing committee was also honored to invite the ambassadors and consuls of Italy, Mexico, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Colombia to Canada. The goal was to have a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, to strengthen further cultural exchanges and future cooperation between nations.

The 3rd Vancouver Chinese Film Festival was redefined by the organizing committee, and was fully launched as a cultural exchange platform for young filmmakers. In the end, among the nearly 100 works received, 11 Chinese works of outstanding young directors were selected and presented to the Canadian audience.
