On August 16th 2019, the 7th Vancouver Chinese Film Festival Closing Awards Ceremony / Red Carpet Ceremony was held at the Michael J. Fox Theater in Burnaby. Acting Consul General of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver: Kong Weiwei, Cultural Consul of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver: Hu Xiao, Member of Parliament of Canada: Ron Mckinnon, and Member of Parliament of Canada: Don Davies attended the event.
Mayor of Coquitlam: Richard Stewart, BC MP Janet Routledge, Vancouver City Council Member Sarah Kirby-Yung, Coquitlam City Planning and Development Director Jim McIntyre, former Cabinet Minister and filmmaker Ian Waddell, former BC Provincial Assembly Speaker and Honorary Chairman of the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival: Douglas Horne, famous North American producer and executive chairman of Vancouver Chinese Film Festival: Paul Armstrong, famous Hollywood producer and jury chairman: Sheldon Larry, and jury chairman Roger Larry attended the festival.
The festival's executive chairman: Lynn Lee, New Era and City TV News Director: Ye Yitao, North Hollywood Editor-in-Chief: Darren Wiesner, Hollywood star: Simone Bally and the creative team of several shortlisted films attended the opening ceremony event.
The Vancouver Chinese Film Festival not only has a far-reaching influence in Canada, but also has a deepening influence around the world. More and more North American filmmakers have begun to focus their attention on the Vancouver Chinese Film Festival. Through the Chinese Film Festival, we have shared Chinese culture to the world and let more people know about Chinese films. The festival is a platform for young filmmakers to succeed and reach larger audiences.
